How a leading commercial bank launched a digital mortgage sales channel for thousands of brokers via Eximee

Context and challenge: A leading commercial bank set out to launch a dedicated mortgage sales channel for thousands of external brokers. The core challenge was fully isolating high-volume broker traffic to safeguard the stability of existing systems supporting direct retail customers and physical branches.

Approach: Rather than building a solution from scratch, the bank leveraged Eximee’s low-code architecture. It deployed an isolated access channel to its omnichannel mortgage journey, equipped with a dedicated broker portal, custom user roles, and workflows tailored specifically to third-party intermediaries.

Result: The bank’s internal team gained full autonomy over process development, broker traffic no longer impacts branch systems, and the bank significantly expanded its mortgage sales reach without expanding its physical footprint.

The lack of a dedicated, scalable channel to handle mortgage applications managed by thousands of external brokers, combined with the crucial need to fully isolate their traffic from existing customer and branch systems
Providing brokers with a secure, efficient tool for managing mortgage applications, expanding sales reach without growing the physical branch network, and maintaining the stability of existing processes by leveraging a shared workflow engine and the flexibility of Eximee

One of Poland’s leading banks is expanding its mortgage sales capabilities by launching a dedicated channel for external brokers. The bank’s live online mortgage application was built on the Eximee platform, which made it possible to seamlessly extend the existing lending process to a network of third-party partners. With support from Consdata, the bank gained access to thousands of new customers without compromising the stability of its existing systems and processes.

In-house process development and a new broker channel

For several years, the bank has been independently developing its mortgage process on the Eximee platform. Until now, customers could apply online or in branches with omnichannel flexibility—meaning an applicant could start their application online and finish it at a branch, or vice versa.

The next logical step was expanding the process to include a dedicated channel for a network of external mortgage brokers. The broker channel differs from both the direct customer and branch advisor journeys in several key ways, all of which were addressed directly within Eximee:

Process element Customer / branch journey Broker journey
Portal Customers use a dedicated customer portal Brokers manage applications within a dedicated broker portal
Application visibility Branch advisors can view customer applications Broker applications remain hidden from branch advisors until a credit decision is issued
Communication flow Bank ↔ customer Bank ↔ broker ↔ customer
Identity verification Multiple verification methods available, including remote ID checks Identity verification is performed directly by the broker
Reporting Standard modules Additional commission-tracking modules

The entire mortgage journey—including its adaptation for the broker channel—was configured by the bank’s internal team using Eximee’s flexible toolset. This highlights how the platform’s architecture empowers project teams with complete autonomy to rapidly build and adapt complex business processes.

Eximee’s flexibility and scalability in the new channel

Launching the broker channel didn’t require building a system from scratch. Instead, the bank leveraged its existing Eximee platform, which was already powering workflows across its other channels (online banking, the mobile app, branch systems, and the call center).

Since incorporating the broker journey didn’t require developing an entirely new sales process, the bank simply extended its existing mortgage workflow with a few configuration tweaks. Thanks to Eximee’s inherent flexibility, this approach delivered several key architectural benefits:

  • A shared workflow engine operating across multiple channels,
  • Consistent business logic, regardless of the user’s role,
  • Customizable permissions for brokers,
  • No need to maintain separate systems,
  • The elimination of duplicated development work.

A dedicated instance: peak performance with zero impact on other processes

A dedicated environment instance is an isolated, independently scalable deployment of a process that is completely separated from other channels and their workloads.

The new broker channel was launched on dedicated Eximee environment components reserved exclusively for broker traffic. Thanks to this architectural approach, the heavy activity generated by thousands of brokers doesn’t burden the systems supporting direct retail customers or branch employees.

Isolating the broker network’s traffic at the Eximee architecture level ensured the bank could handle a massive surge in new users (brokers) without negatively impacting the performance of the self-service web channel for customers, or the systems used by advisors in the existing branch network.

A separate instance also provides greater flexibility in change management. The bank can roll out updates or new features in the broker environment first, minimizing risks to the other channels. Furthermore, Eximee’s scalability allows the bank to seamlessly ramp up computing capacity as more business partners come on board.

Consdata’s support in launching the broker channel

The project was delivered in collaboration with Consdata, the creator of the Eximee platform and the bank’s long-standing technology partner. Consdata provided expert business and technical support, helped optimize the platform’s configuration to meet specific broker requirements, and oversaw its integration with the bank’s broader IT ecosystem.

The Consdata team’s extensive experience in large-scale deployments made it possible to eliminate performance and security risks long before the production go-live. As a result, the launch of the new channel went smoothly, with absolutely no disruption to the continuity of the bank’s other services.

Thousands of brokers: unlocking new business potential for the bank

The smooth execution of the project demonstrated how combining Eximee’s advanced process orchestration platform with Consdata’s expertise yields tangible business gains. According to data from ZPF (the Association of Financial Companies in Poland), the value of mortgages originated through brokers surpassed PLN 72 billion in 2025, with intermediaries accounting for roughly two-thirds of the entire mortgage market. By launching a dedicated broker channel, the bank unlocked vast new opportunities to reach fresh customer segments across the mortgage landscape without having to expand its physical branch footprint.

FAQ

How can a bank extend its mortgage process to a broker channel?

Expanding the process involves deploying a dedicated instance within the Eximee environment, configured specifically for broker needs. The bank leverages its existing mortgage workflow and launches it in a separate channel—complete with distinct roles, permissions, and communication logic—without disrupting the direct customer journey or branch systems.

What is the broker portal?

The broker portal is a dedicated application designed for financial intermediaries. It enables brokers to initiate mortgage applications, input customer data, attach documents, track case status, and handle all communication with the bank. Unlike the direct customer journey, the broker is the sole user of this portal—customers do not have direct access to this workflow.

How does mortgage application processing by a broker differ from the branch journey?

Broker-led processing differs from the branch journey in several key areas:

  • User portal: branch advisors work directly within internal bank systems, whereas brokers use the dedicated broker portal,
  • Application visibility: branch advisors can view direct customer applications, while broker applications remain hidden until a credit decision is issued,
  • Communication: in branches, the bank communicates directly with the customer; in the broker channel, all communication flows through the intermediary,
  • Identity verification: self-service customer journeys support various verification methods (including remote ID checks), whereas in the broker channel, the broker is responsible for verifying the customer’s identity,
  • Reporting: in addition to standard modules, the broker journey includes dedicated commission-tracking tools.

What are the benefits of using a shared (omnichannel) workflow engine in banking?

A shared workflow engine is a centralized core mechanism that drives the exact same process across multiple channels: web, mobile, branch networks, and broker portals.

Its key benefits include:

  • consistent business logic across all user roles,
  • no need to maintain separate, siloed systems,
  • faster development and deployment of updates,
  • elimination of duplicated software development work,
  • easier scaling and streamlined quality control across processes.

How do you isolate the external broker environment from other bank systems?

Isolation is achieved by running the process on a separate environment instance—a dedicated, independently scaled Eximee environment reserved exclusively for broker traffic.

This approach:

  • protects retail customer and branch systems from heavy traffic loads,
  • enables new updates or features to be deployed in the broker channel first,
  • minimizes operational risk across other bank processes,
  • allows the bank to scale up computing power seamlessly as its partner network grows.
  • Banking product sales
  • Customer communication
